RoHS is the acronym for Restriction of Hazardous Substances. RoHS, also known as Directive 2002/95/EC, originated in the European Union and restricts the use of specific hazardous materials found in electrical and electronic products.

ATS Is Green

Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive (WEEE) Directive:

WEEE (Directive 2002/96/EC) sets collection, recycling and recovery targets for all types of electrical and electronic goods. The directive assigns responsibility for the disposal of waste electrical and electronic equipment on the manufacturers of such equipment. Complying companies should establish an infrastructure for collecting WEEE, in such a way that "Users of electrical and electronic equipment from private households should have the possibility of returning WEEE at least free of charge". Also, the companies are compelled to use the collected waste in an ecological-friendly manner, either by ecological disposal or by reuse/refurbishment of the collected WEEE.

The substances banned under RoHS are;

  • lead (Pb),
  • mercury (Hg),
  • cadmium (Cd),
  • hexavalent chromium (CrVI),
  • polybrominated biphenyls (PBB)
  • polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE).

Why is RoHS compliance important?

The restricted materials are hazardous to the environment and pollute landfills, and are dangerous in terms of occupational exposure during manufacturing and recycling.  A greener environment is our goal and our commitment to you.
